Day 14, July 9th, Wiseman to Delta Junction, 363 miles

Another very nice day with the sun out and perhaps a little too warm later in the day with the
temperature in the low 80s. We had breakfast at the Artic Gateway B&B. The owner shared some interesting gold mining stories. He also had the hide of a brown bear on the wall that had tangled with a sled dog team and killed 8 dogs.

The section of the Dalton road south of Wiseman is about 50% paved or chip sealed. The rest is gravel and we got to experience the famous dust clouds from the big trucks. Makes me reconsider how bad the rain and mud really were.

We helped a guy in a rental car that didn't have quite enough gas to get back to Fairbanks. A quarter mile later there was a motorcycle that had also run out of gas, but he had someone on the way to help him out.
